Floridita's Night Eau de Parfum

For hours, I’ve been hunched over this old typewriter, while Papa Doble cocktails flow faster than my words. Here at Floridita, that feels natural. The loud salsa music, the sticky heat, they belong, but barely affect me anymore. I am at home here.

The story I’m trying to write refuses to be
controlled. Maybe it’s an escape, maybe a quest, maybe nothing more than an addiction. Like love itself: first desire, then surrender, finally obsession.

At the end of the bar, I see her. She carries strength and
vulnerability in equal measure. Before she even comes closer, she announces herself with a trail of patchouli and fresh, spicy cardamom. When our worlds meet, my skin, drenched in vetiver and rum, and her divine
presence, she nonchalantly pushes a wooden stool aside. “The famous Hemingway, I presume?”she says, almost casually.

There’s just enough time to light her Montecristo, and
mine. Then I hesitate. Does she really exist, or is she merely a projection of the night? That breath of saffron, of elegance, of myrrh and freedom, is it hers, or only mine?

In Floridita, boundaries blur. Ghosts, dreams, and illusions move freely through the space, deep into the night. It is they who accompany me, and who give these hours their perfume.
