Remove any old nail polish and thoroughly clean your nails with nail polish remover. Nail polish adheres better to grease-free nails. File your nails into the desired shape. Push back your cuticles with an orange stick. Polish your nails with a nail buffer to smooth out any imperfections. Nail polish will look much more even and beautiful on a smooth nail. Now clean your nails one more time with nail polish remover. First, apply a base coat/ridge filler; this evens out the nails. Base coat protects the nails from discoloration. Let this base coat dry for about 5 minutes. After you have chosen a color of nail polish, roll the bottle between your hands so that the pigments in the nail polish are well distributed in the polish. Then apply a layer of nail polish and let this layer dry for 5 minutes. Then it's time for the second coat; let this dry for 10 minutes. Now it's time for a (quick-drying) topcoat; let this dry for another 5 minutes.
